A Bit of a Let Down. PDF Print E-mail

I know how we have all been VERY excited about this game and its early release next year. It has come to my attention that this is not the case anymore. On IGN it is put in its info that it is now scheduled for a Q2 release. To be exact it has the date of June 30, 2009. Now for those of you that are right now stomping around their computer in an angry rampage, think of the bright side. WHAT BRIGHT SIDE!!! You may ask, But there may be one. Since they have decided to hold the release back 3 months, I'm guessing that they had a very good reason to do so. For one, maybe they thought that maybe they couldn't quite get all of the details in and kinks out by their first date, and decided to set it back. This could be good because that means they will be spending EVEN MORE time making it even better, which is always a plus. Another reason may have been because they decided to put more features and modes in then they were going to do before. And this of coarse, would be great! Hopefully its all for the better.

Well.........There doesn't seem to be much news about the Conduit lately, but that's ok. We'll just have to make some news of our own. As you could probably imagine from the title, we're almost ready for open beta. All we really have to do is get the videos uploaded for the video gallery and finish the online email for the Conduit Mail. You can expect to see some screenshots, and maybe even a video of these new things in action, so keep your eyes peeled (Not Literally). On top of this, we're working on getting some exclusive information about the Conduit that no other site has. We'll inform you when this gets going. Thanks for your patience in the matter of the beta; we did not expect it to take this long.

High Voltage to Make More Wii Games? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Captain Obvious

Could High Voltage be making more games, such as an RPG?

It seems that in the future High Voltage could be releasing some other titles for the Wii that  are ubtebded fir the more core audience.  Eric Nofsinger stated recently that their next title may be an RPG, “That really is another area [RPGs] that can use a shot in the arm I feel," he said. "Keep your eyes peeled because in the near future we’ll be announcing some other titles that we’ve already got underway in development."

This could be hinting at not only an RPG, but also other games, as they also state this:

"We feel that there are a number of genres that are poorly represented on the Wii for core gamers. We want to do games that are high quality. You know, that’s what we are. I think it’s a shame for what is our personal favorite system to be so underrepresented when it comes to core gamers. "

Yet Another Exclusive Interview for the Conduit Arises PDF Print E-mail
Written by Captain Obvious
Thursday, 30 October 2008 14:08
 It looks like the Conduit has been getting a lot of interviews lately.  Here is the latest one.
IW = Iran White

EN = Eric Nofsinger

KG = Kerry Ganofsky
IW: O.k., we’re here with Eric Nofsinger from High Voltage Software at the HVS Halloween wrap party.

EN: Yeah, Eric Nofsinger from High Voltage software here. We’re based in Chicago, and I bet this is the first time that you’ve ever done an interview with someone dressed as Cloud Strife?

IW: (Laughs) Yeah, that’s true. (laughs) Thanks for inviting us. It’s been fun hanging out with you guys.

EN: Thanks for coming.

IW: So, on to the questions we go.

EN: Sure.

IW: O.k. High Voltage Software has made it a point to the public that a main motivation in developing the Quantum 3 engine, and the Conduit in particular, is that there are so few high quality 3rd party games being developed for core gamers on the Wii. Was it mainly the Wii’s infrared pointing ability that made you decide on developing a First Person Shooter as your first major project?

EN: That was a huge motivator. When we were first introduced to the Wii we saw that there was a huge potential for First Person Shooters using the infrared pointer of the console. And then it didn’t seem like many folks were taking advantage of it by making high quality original titles outside of Nintendo themselves.

Due to server speed issues, we cannot create a fully fledged video section. We will work on creating a video and picture gallery for the Conduit, but it will not have user uploads. To do a full video gallery we would need user donations of $100 a month. Sorry for this inconvenience.

High Voltage to Release a WiiWare Game PDF Print E-mail
Written by Captain Obvious
Thursday, 23 October 2008 14:11

High Voltage is going to be releasing a game for WiiWare this fall. Apparently it will "Race Ahead" of the competition in terms of graphics. This will be because it is using the Quantum 3 engine, which is the same one they will be using in the Conduit. The game is meant mostly for hard core gamers, and rewards you for driving more appropriately and not crashing, although there are many jumps to do tricks in the game. Looking at it though, the game really doesn't look that great. You can catch the video after the break.

"We wanted High Voltage Hot Rod Show to be a fresh and exciting racing title for the Wii that would provide up to four friends with endless replay value. The result is a game that is easy to pick up and play, but maintains a core of skill-based racing, which gives it special appeal.
Kerry Ganofsky, CEO and founder of High Voltage Software.

Style was important to us on this project. We were inspired by the work of Ed ?Big Daddy? Roth and that led us to design some really exciting characters, Hot Rods, and even music. We hope players will love the direction we've taken.?
Benjamin Savage, Lead Artist on the title.

We set the bar for ourselves very high with each new title. Not only have we created a fantastic racing title with support for split-screen racing and online leaderboards, but we've also demonstrated the incredible versatility of the Quantum 3 Game Engine.
Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer of High Voltage Software."
